No they are not. Boys and girls are kept separate in different houses.
The college makes every effort to accept all applications regarding guest houses of choice & friends they wish to be accommodated together. As part of our Terms & Conditions when the application is made the college has the final decision as regards to which guest house every student is placed. Up to a maximum of 3 friends can be accommodated together. The college does not have any involvement in the layout of the bedrooms in the guest houses.
We are restricting visiting to Sundays only as any other day causes disruption to daily activities. Parents are kindly requested not to enter the guesthouse. If you are taking your son/daughter out for a day during the course you must sign them out either at the office (during activities) or at the guest-house at other times. If you are taking out other students you must get written permission from their parents and this must be handed to the Principal before other students are allowed to leave with you. The letter must contain mobile number for the other parents and must be signed by them.
All mobile phones must be handed to the Bean a’ tigh on the day of arrival. You will be asked to place your name on a sticker which will then be attached to your phone. The use of mobile phones is restricted to the guesthouse between 9.30pm – 10.30pm. Phones will be confiscated if used at any other time. This rule is strictly enforced.
- We would like to remind you again that rain gear is essential as activities/sports will not be postponed/curtailed due to showery weather.
- Sports gear….Swim gear…..boots/old shoes for orienteering…..clothes for theme nights are essential if you do not want to be left out of the fun!!!(See brochure for some of our theme nights…others will be added so you will have to improvise!!!)
What not to bring: The following are not allowed during the course. Items will be confiscated.
- Hair straighteners (ii) spray cans of any variety. (iii) chewing gum
Please familiarise yourself with the main college rules which are on the brochure or can be viewed on our website before you attend. All other rules will be explained clearly on the first day.
Although the college no longer operates a bank, an ATM (Pass Machine) can be accessed in the local shop directly across from the college. Students are strongly advised to have their money lodged in a bank which can be accessed from an ATM as the college will not be held responsible for lost or stolen money during the course.
Two optional day-trips will be offered during the course at a cost of €60 (e.g. guided excursion to one of the Aran Islands & guided tour of Galway city). The fee will cover both trips incl. any ferry/admission charges (excluding other activities which the students may wish to partake in during the day). The fee of €60 will be collected during the first few days of the course (it is not necessary to pay for tours in advance of course start date).
Although the college has full public liability insurance to cover all of our activities we do advise that each student get their own personal accident insurance.
Students who need to attend the doctor or who are absent from activities due to illness will be brought to the doctor as a matter of caution. Students should ensure that they have available to them the necessary fee (usually €50 – €60).
Students are not allowed to get a haircut or piercing of any type during the course. These should be done before the student attends if they feel the need to do so. Disregard for this rule will be dealt with accordingly by the Principal.
Please note: As with all Irish Colleges, we will occasionally be taking photos and filming activities during the course. These photos/films etc may be used during the course or for advertising at a later date. If you do not want your son/daughter to be part of these photos/films, please contact the college office, giving your full details.
Students and parents will be notified of time of departure nearing the end of the course. Parents also note that if you are collecting your son/daughter, on the day of departure, that you must do so before 10.00am.
If you are traveling privately, please arrange your arrival time at the college office to be between 3.00pm and 5.00pm. Travel west from Galway along the coast road for approx 30 miles. The college is on your right hand side in the middle of An Cheathrú Rua, (Carraroe) village located in the community hall. Please call into the college office for directions to the guesthouse.
All cancellations subject to an administration fee of €50. Cancellations after the 3rd of May will result in forfeiture of deposit.

Déanann an coláiste gach iarracht glacadh le gach iarratas a dhéanfar ar thithe agus ar iarratais cairde a bheith le chéile. Tá sé mar choinníoll nuair a dhéantar iarratas ar chúrsa, go mbeidh an cinneadh deiridh ag an gcoláiste maidir le cén teach ina gcuirtear gach scoláire. Féadfaidh triúr cara ar a mhéad fanacht sa teach céanna. Ní bhíonn aon impleacht ag an gcoláiste ar leagan amach na seomraí codlata.
Tá muid ag cur srian ar chuairt go dtí an Domhnach amháin de bharr go gcuirfidh laethanta eile isteach ar ghníomhaíochtaí laethúla. Iarrtar ar thuismitheoirí gan dul isteach sna tithe lóistín. Má tá tú ag tógáil amach d’iníon/mac ar feadh an lae tríd an chúrsa beidh ort iad a shíniú amach ag an oifig (le linn gníomhaíochtaí) nó ag an teach lóistín ag amanna eile. Má tá tú ag tógáil amach scoláirí eile beidh ort cead scríofa a fhail óna gcuid tuismitheoirí agus caithfear é seo a thabhairt don Phríomhoide sula bhfuil cead ag scoláirí eile dul in éineacht leat. Caithfidh uimhir fón na dtuismitheoirí a bheith sa litir agus é a bheith sínithe acu.
Caithfear an fón póca a thabhairt do Bhean a’Tígh ar an gcéad lá. Iarrfar ort d’ainm a chur ar ghreamán agus ansin cuirfear ar chúl an fhóin é. Níl cead an fón a úsáid ach idir 9.30in agus 10.30in. Tógfar na fóin má úsáidtear iad ag aon am eile. Tá an riail seo curtha i bhfeidhm go docht.
- Tá éadaí báistí riachtanach de bharr go rachaidh gníomhaíochtaí/spóirt ar aghaidh fiú má bhíonn aimsir bháistí ann.
- Éadaí spóirt, éadaí snámh, sean bhróga le haghaidh treodóireachta. Tá éadaí le haghaidh theme nights riachtanach mura bhfuil tú ag iarraidh an spraoi ar fad a chailleadh!!! (Féach an bróisiúr le haghaidh liosta dár gcuid theme nights. Cuirfear cuid nua leis an liosta le linn an chúrsa mar sin beidh ort rud éigin a chumadh ar an láthair.

Le do thoil bí eolach ar na príomh rialacha atá ag an gcoláiste sula bhfreastalaíonn tú. Tá siad seo le feiceáil ar an bhróisiúr nó ar an suíomh idirlín. Míneofar na rialacha eile go soiléir ar an gcéad lá.
Cé nach gcuireann an coláiste banc ar fáil níos mó tá ATM (Pass Machine) ar fáil sa siopa áitiúil trasna an bhóthair ón gcoláiste. Cuirtear comhairle láidir ar na scoláirí a gcuid airgead a lóisteáil i mbanc ar féidir a tharraingt ó ATM de bharr nach nglacfaidh an coláiste aon fhreagracht ar airgead atá caillte nó goidte le linn an chúrsa.
Tairgfear dhá thuras atá roghnach le linn an chúrsa ag costas de €60. (m.sh turas treoraithe go dtí ceann d’Oileáin Árann & turas treoraithe de chathair na Gaillimhe). Clúdóidh an costas an dá thuras, aon táille don bhád/cead isteach san áireamh (seachas aon ghníomhaíochtaí eile ina mbeadh na scoláirí ag iarraidh páirt a ghlacadh iontu le linn an lae). Baileofar táille de €60 le linn an chéad chúpla lá den chúrsa (níl gá na turais a íoc roimh thús na gcúrsaí).
Cé go bhfuil árachas dliteanais phoiblí iomlán ag an gcoláiste chun ár gcuid gníomhaíochtaí ar fad a chlúdach, cuireann muid comhairle ar gach scoláire a gcuid árachas tionóisce pearsanta féin a fháil.
Tabharfar an scoláire a chaithfidh freastal ar an dochtúir nó atá as láthair ó na gníomhaíochtaí mar gheall ar thinneas chuig an dochtúir le bheith cúramach. Ba chóir do scoláirí a chinntiú go bhfuil an táille riachtanach acu. (go hiondúil €50-€60)
Níl aon chead ag scoláirí bearradh gruaige nó cneaspholladh d’aon chineál a fháil le linn an chúrsa. Má tá scoláirí ag iarraidh iad seo ba chóir iad a dhéanamh sula bhfreastalaíonn siad ar an gcúrsa. Má thugtar neamhaird ar seo déileálfaidh an Príomhoide leis.
Le do thoil tabhair d’aire: Ar nós go leor Coláistí Gaeilge, anois agus arís beidh muid ag tógáil pictiúir agus ag déanamh scannánaíocht ar ghníomhaíochtaí le linn an chúrsa. Seans maith go n-úsáidfear na pictiúir/scannáin i rith an chúrsa agus d’fhógraíocht níos déanaí. Mura bhfuil tú ag iarraidh do mhac/d’iníon páirt a ghlacadh sna pictiúir/scannáin seo le do thoil téigh i dteagmháil leis an oifig chun do chuid sonraí ar fad a thabhairt.
Cuirfear scoláirí agus tuismitheoirí ar an eolas maidir le ham imeachta gar do dheireadh an chúrsa. Tuismitheoirí, tabhair d’aire caithfidh tú do mhac/d’iníon a bhailiú roimh 10.00 rn ar lá imeachta.
Má tá tú ag taisteal go príobháideach, le do thoil socraigh d’am rochtana ag oifig an choláiste a bheith idir 3.00in agus 5.00in. Taisteal siar ó Ghaillimh ar bhóthar an chósta ar feadh timpeall 30 míle. Tá an coláiste ar thaobh na láimhe déise i lár sráidbhaile na Ceathrún Ruaidh (Carraroe) lonnaithe sa halla pobail. Le do thoil buail isteach in oifig an choláiste le haghaidh treoracha chuig an teach lóistín.
Tá táille riaracháin de €50 ar gach cealú. Caillfidh tú an éarlais iomlán má chuireann tú d’áit ar ceal tar éis an 3ú Bealtaine.
